Meeting The Bus
- Pupils should be on time. It is recommended that pupils be at their bus stop five minutes before the scheduled arrival time of the bus.
- Pupils should wait off the traveled portion of the roadway until the bus comes to a complete stop.
- Pupils, while waiting at a bus stop, should respect the property of home and business owners in the area.
- If pupils must cross the roadway to get to the bus after its arrival at the stopping point, they are required to cross ten feet in front of the bus, and only under the direction of the driver. Never should a pupil cross behind a bus. Pupils should never chase the bus due to the danger zones being within 10 feet of all area around the bus.
- Pupils should board the bus immediately and with due speed, seating three to a seat, taking the rear seats first or as directed by the driver.
- Female pupils are to sit on the left side of the bus directly behind the driver's seat. Male pupils are to sit on the right side of the bus or as assigned by the driver or school administrator.
- Pupils are permitted to ride only the bus to which they are assigned, and will be picked up and released by the driver only at their regular stops. Should it be necessary for a student to ride another bus, or to get off at a different stop, written permission from the parent or guardian, with approval by the principal, must be presented to the bus driver. No change will be made in the location of bus stops or bus routes without approval of the transportation office.
- School buses do not run roads that are .2 or less for elementary students nor roads that are .3 or less for middle/high school students.
- Distance between designated stops will be no less than .1 mile.
Conduct On The Bus
- Pupils should remain seated while the bus is in motion. Hands, head, or any part of the body should never be extended from windows of the bus.
- Pupils should remain reasonably quiet so as not to distract the bus driver, and should obey the driver's directions promptly.
- Pupils are permitted to talk in a normal conversational manner. Use of profanity or obscene and suggestive language will not be tolerated from any student.
- For sanitary as well as safety reasons, food and drinks (including chewing gum) will not be allowed on buses except school approved lunches/snacks in proper containers if they are not opened while on the bus. Never shall such objects occupy a seat or block a passageway.
- Radio and other related electronic equipment are not permitted on school buses without prior approval from driver or school administrator.
- Combustible or inflammable materials are not to be carried on the school bus.
- The use of tobacco, in any form, is prohibited. Smoking by pupils or other passengers is forbidden.
- Pupils should use caution in order to assure that objects carried in their pockets or attached to their clothing do not mark, scratch, or tear bus seats. Willful damage to a bus must be paid for by the pupil performing the act.
- Alcoholic beverages and other drug-related intoxicants are prohibited on school buses.
- To use or tamper with the emergency door is strictly forbidden, except during an emergency.
- Fighting, scuffling, or harassment of other passengers will not be tolerated.
- Animals, including pets, reptiles, insects, etc., are not permitted on school buses.
Video/Audio Monitoring Systems
Students riding buses equipped with the Video/Audio Monitoring Systems are subject to be filmed. A tape filmed on a school bus will only be shown to school personnel or parents of students shown on the film and retained for the current school year.
Code Of Conduct
While riding on a school bus, students are subject to all the rules and regulations described in the Code of Student Conduct. The bus driver is in charge of all passengers and has the authority to assign seats and make any other arrangements deemed necessary to maintain a safe and orderly environment. Students are required to obey the directives of the driver.
Disruptive behavior and infractions of school rules may result in administrative action. Recommended Dispositions: Student Conference; Parent Conference; In-School Suspension; Out-of-School Suspension; Bus Suspension; and Revocation of Bus Riding Privileges.

Leaving The Bus
- Pupils must remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
- Pupils are to leave the bus in an orderly manner and with due speed, walking quickly and directly away from the bus.
- If pupils must cross a roadway, they are to do so at a distance of at least ten feet in front of the bus, never behind the bus. Pupils must not cross a roadway until the driver has signaled that it is safe to do so.
- Pupils must leave the bus at their regular stop.

Reglas para los Alumnos que Viajan en los Autobuses Escolares
Esperando al Autobús
- Los alumnos deben llegar a la parada del autobús a tiempo. Se recomienda que los alumnos estén en la parada cinco minutos antes de la llegada del autobús.
- Los alumnos deben esperar el autobús fuera de la parte viajada del camino hasta que el autobús llega a una parada completa.
- Mientras que esperan el autobús, los alumnos deben de respetar la propiedad de los dueños de casas o negocios en el área donde esperan al autobús.
- Si un alumno tiene que cruzar el camino para subirse al autobús, se requiere que cruce el camino diez pies enfrente del autobús, y solo bajo la dirección del conductor. Un alumno nunca debe cruzar el camino detrás de un autobús.
- Los alumnos deben subirse al autobús inmediatamente y rápidamente, sentándose tres a cada asiento empezando en la parte trasera del autobús. Las muchachas deben sentarse al lado izquierdo del autobús directamente detrás del conductor. Los muchachos deben sentarse al lado derecho del autobús o en la manera indicada por el conductor o el administrador escolar.
- Los alumnos solo pueden viajar en el autobús que les asignan, y serán recogidos y dejados por el conductor solamente en sus paradas regulares. Si un alumno necesita subirse a otro autobús, o bajarse en otra parada, tendrá que presentar al conductor permiso escrito de los padres/guardianes y autorizado por el director de la escuela. No se cambiará el lugar de la parada del autobús o la ruta del autobús sin permiso de la oficina de transporte escolar.
- Los autobuses escolares no viajan por caminos de una distancia de menos de .2 millas para alumnos en escuelas primarias/elementales ni en caminos menos de .3 millas para alumnos en las escuelas medias/ secundarias. La distancia entre paradas será por lo menos .1 milla.
Conducta en el Autobús
- Los alumnos deben quedarse sentados mientras que el autobús esté moviendo. Los alumnos nunca deben poner las manos, la cabeza ni ninguna otra parte del cuerpo fuera de las ventanas del autobús.
- Los alumnos deben quedarse suficiente callados para no distraer al conductor y deben obedecer las direcciones del conductor inmediatamente.
- Los alumnos pueden hablar en una forma normal de conversación. El uso de palabrotas, obscenidades, o vocabulario vulgar o sugestivo no será aceptado de ningún alumno.
- Por razones de salud y seguridad, no se permite comida ni refrescos (incluso el chicle) en los autobuses con la excepción de los almuerzos/meriendas aprobados por la escuela y que no esten abiertos en el autobús. Estos nunca deben ocupar un asiento ni bloquear el pasillo.
- No se permiten radios ni otras cosas electrónicas en el autobús sin el permiso anterior del conductor o el administrador escolar.
- No se permiten materiales combustibles o inflamables en el autobús.
- Se prohíbe el uso de todas formas de tabaco. Se prohíbe fumar a alumnos u otros pasajeros.
- Los alumnos necesitan asegurar que nada en sus bolsillos, bolsas, o ropa pueda marcar, rayar, o cortar los asientos del autobús. Daño hecho deliberadamente al autobús será pagado por el alumno que hizo el daño.
- Se prohíben bebidas alcohólicas y otras drogas embriagadoras en los autobuses escolares.
- Se prohíbe tocar o usar la puerta de emergencia si no es un caso de emergencia.
- No se permite acosar o pelear con otros pasajeros.
- No se permiten animales, incluyendo animales domésticos, reptiles e insectos en los autobuses escolares.
Sistemas de Control con Audio/Video
Los alumnos que viajan en los autobuses escolares con sistemas de Audio/Video pueden ser filmados. La cinta filmada en un autobús escolar sólo será mostrada a personal escolar o a los padres de los alumnos filmados en tal cinta y guardada solo para el presente año escolar.
Código de Conducta
Mientras que estén en el autobús escolar, los alumnos están bajo todas las reglas del Código de Conducta Escolar. El conductor esta encargado de todos los pasajeros y tiene la autoridad de asignar asientos y hacer lo que sea necesario para mantener un ambiente seguro y ordenado. Se requiere que los alumnos obedezcan al conductor.
Comportamiento trastorno y violación de las reglas escolares puede resultar en acción administrativa. Medios de acción recomendados: Conferencia con el alumno, Conferencia con los Padres, Suspensión Interna, Suspensión Externa, Suspensión del Autobús, y últimamente, Pérdida del privilegio de viajar en Autobús.

Bajando del Autobús
- Los alumnos deben quedarse sentados hasta que el autobús pare completamente.
- Los alumnos deben bajarse del autobús en una manera ordenada y deben alejarse rápidamente y directamente del autobús.
- Si los alumnos tienen que cruzar el camino deben de cruzar por lo menos diez pies enfrente del autobús, nunca detrás del autobús. Los alumnos no deben cruzar el camino hasta que el conductor les señale que crucen.
- Los alumnos deben bajarse del autobús en su parada regular.
