Degrees and Certifications:

Señorita Vásquez

My Spanish name is Señorita Vásquez. I was born in Venezuela and I grew up in Ecuador. My family and I moved to Florida in 1989. I graduated from Mary Baldwin University with a bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Elementary Education. Upon graduation, I obtained my Foreign Language endorsement in Spanish from the Department of Education. I love my culture and I am grateful to have the opportunity to share a little bit of that culture with my students! I look forward to inspiring you to continue to study Spanish throughout your high school years and beyond. The first year is a very important building block in learning a second language and I am very excited to be a part of your first experiences in learning the Spanish language and culture.

I have worked as a Paraprofessional for Henry County Schools teaching English as a Second Language, since August of 2005. As an ELL Paraprofessional I provided support for teachers and newcomer students that are not yet proficient in the English language. I also provided communication support between the school and our ELL families; as well as, support for interpretation and translation for school conferences and meetings, open houses, and IEP meetings. This is my seventh year teaching Spanish and Intro to Cultures at Fieldale-Collinsville Middle School.I love what I do and I look forward to working with all of you this school year!
