Joel Johnson

My name is Joel Johnson.  I am an active facilitator of knowledge in the field of health and physical education who embraces a holistic approach to serving the needs of my students.  I am a lifelong learner who is aware of my strengths and weaknesses, and I am committed to using my weaknesses as opportunities for growth.  I am a highly qualified teacher who caters to the individual student.  I am excited about the 2018-2019 school year where I will serve Meadow View Elementary School.

My passion for wellness and journey as a facilitator started when I was introduced to weight training in sixth grade.  I quickly noticed the physical and mental benefits as my strength and self-confidence increased.  Additionally, I developed fervor for learning about the human body and sharing this knowledge with others.  My desire to obtain optimal health and educate my community on the values and benefits of physical activity led me to a career in teaching and a lifelong pursuit of physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

My diverse educational background has provided me with certification in First Aid and CPR, personal training, massage therapy, polarity therapy, and La Stone therapy.  I am licensed to teach PK-12 health and physical education.  I have a master's degree in education.  Additionally, I am a SafetyCare instructor.  As a result of my diverse background, I understand the importance of facilitating knowledge to the holistic needs of learners.  While I am a competent facilitator, I realize that education is a lifelong pursuit of giving and receiving knowledge.  My learning environment caters to the flexible and differentiated learning needs of my students.  Together, my students and I create an atmosphere that maximizes the mastery of the health and physical education experience.  Finally, I realize that many in my profession have knowledge, but do not live a healthy and physically active lifestyle.  Not only do I have the knowledge, but also actively engage in cycling, mountain biking, and weight training.
