Each class will receive instruction in a variety of areas, including working toward meeting the goals and objectives of each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Life Skills - Instructional areas will include functional skills such as telling time, money usage, and positive social interactions.
Work Skills - Teaching skills needed for job acquisition.
Transition Skills - Promote student awareness of post-secondary opportunities including education, employment, community participation, home living, and leisure activities.
There will be a weekly spelling and vocabulary quiz/test. Occasionally, I will send home work to be completed as needed such as reading passages, reviewing/practicing math facts, and/or reviewing study guides related to VAAPs testing.
Quizzes and tests will be given at school, explained thoroughly and completed with close monitoring by teacher or paraprofessional.
Each course will have a final activity given in accordance with the county’s exam policies.
Communication with Parents:
I will keep in touch with parents and guardians during the year through notes, phone calls, email, Remind, and conferences. Regular correspondence from parents are encouraged and welcomed! If you would like to meet with me, please schedule an appointment ahead of time. When you arrive at the school, always remember to get a visitors pass at the front office.
