Here's More About
Library Media Center!
Classes visit the library each week for instruction and book checkout. (See Schedule) Students may check out one book at a time. Books are due back on their next library day. Although we do not charge fines, students with Overdue Materials may not check out more books. Students are expected to pay the replacement cost for lost or severely Damaged Books.
Library activities include story time, viewing appropriate videos, library skills lessons, stem activities, coding and computer/technology lessons. Click here to view the Standards of Learning (SOL) for computer technology. Click here for Linking Libraries & Academic Achievement.
Students are expected to follow the school rules for general good behavior:
1. Be quiet
2. Be good listeners
3. Be respectful and kind to each other
4. No running
5. Treat the books with care
6. Return books on time.
Students who are consistently disrespectful and disruptive may be asked to remain in the classroom or principal's office during library time.
Special activities scheduled in the library include a Fall Book Fair, National Library Week in April and lastly, we celebrate NEA's Read Across America Day, which has become our nation's largest reading event. It is celebrated each year on or near Dr. Seuss's Birthday (March 2 [Monday]).
