The Henry County Public Schools (HCPS) Division is located in the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, right along the southern border of Virginia. Centrally located, our rural community is within a one-day drive of some of the largest cities in the United States and about an hour drive from Roanoke and Greensboro.

Our division-wide student enrollment is almost 7,000 across nine elementary schools (including nine preschool programs), two middle schools, two high schools, a regional alternative program, the Center for Community Learning, the Career Academy, and an adult education program.

HCPS is the largest employer in the Martinsville and Henry County footprint with over 1,150 full-time employees and over 450 part-time employees. Additionally, more than 45% of our teachers hold advanced degrees.

Our school division features the largest iPad/digital textbook initiative in Virginia, with more than 5,000 iPads for use by students in all grade levels. The student/iPad ratio is 1:1 in the 3rd-10th grades, while the student/iMac ratio is also 1:1 in our Bengal and Warrior Tech Programs.

Both HCPS high schools also offer industry certification/state licensure options, dual enrollment and advanced placement courses, and the Commonwealth's Scholar Program for students.

Some other points of pride at HCPS are: our 14:1 student-teacher ratio, the 45% of staff that have over 5 years of experience, and that 100% of our students qualify for free meals.

Education holds the remarkable power to transform lives, uplift families, and strengthen the future we all share. At Henry County Public Schools, we see this impact every day—in the growth of our students, the dedication of our educators, and the spirit of collaboration that fuels our progress.Dr. Amy Blake-Lewis, Superintendent
