Internet Safety Information for Parents
The high-speed Internet has made more interactive possibilities with young people than ever before. However, while exposing these individuals to many different cultures and various lifestyles, there are certain individuals who use this source to sexually exploit children through the use of on-line services. These individuals gradually seduce their targets through attention, kindness and even gifts, spending considerable amounts of time, money and energy in the process. To insure the safety of the entire Henry County School student's the division currently has in place:
- Internet Acceptable Use policy
- Internet filter
- Secure private network
- Internet Filtering Appliance for Network
- Firewall ADA updated 2016
Internet safety training will be required annually for all Henry County students.
The division's Acceptable Use Policy was revised and updated in 2013. This policy is part of the Student code of contact that is signed at the beginning of each school year by students. Student violations of this policy is subject to discipline procedures under this code of conduct. This plan will be reviewed and updated yearly.
The above information demonstrates that Henry County Schools in compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and 22.1-70.2 of the Code of Virginia.
