Health and WellnessAs it’s critically important that you remain well and healthy, we want to remind you of benefits and supports available to staff members to help you remain physically, mentally and emotionally well.

Additional Resources:

♦  Carilion Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a voluntary, confidential service providing professional counseling and referral services designed to help you with your personal, job or family problems.  Its purpose is to help employees and their families identify, resolve, and gain control over personal problems that may be interfering with work and daily life. 

  • Contact Carilion EAP at 1-800-992-1931 (choose Option 2).  
  • Appointments are available in-person (in Roanoke, Martinsville, or near you) or through Carilion EAP’s confidential virtual platform.
  • HCPS pays for up to four visits per individual concern for employees and their immediate family members.

♦  Anthem Resources for Your Care and Wellbeing 

  • PsychHub - A free mental health resource hub, powered by Psych Hub and supported by Anthem.
  • Aunt Bertha - A free online tool to help find food assistance, help paying bills, and other free or reduced cost programs, including new programs for the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Archangels - An organization that supports, recognizes and honors caregivers and offers free caregiver resources.
  • Caregiver Action Network - Free guidance on managing the challenges of caregiving.
  • Other Anthem services available to HCPS staff members with Anthem health coverage:
    • LiveHealth Online - Anthem’s telemedicine partner. Visit with a doctor 24/7

♦  School Nurse Coordinator Line - HCPS School Nurses are available for live conversation/chat with students, staff and families each evening until 9pm. Call or text (276) 201-3394. Voicemail and text messages left after 9pm will be answered the following morning.

♦  Piedmont Community Services (PCS) Resources

  • Virginia Warm Line: Call (877) 349-6428 for assistance with trauma, grief or distress from COVID-19
  • PCS has partnered with our school division to support and encourage staff every Monday through PCS’ “Monday Minute.” Mrs. Hatchett is sharing these quick motivational minutes to help with health and wellness every Monday morning via email.

♦  Keep the Spark Alive Foundation - an organization supporting teen suicide prevention and providing an abundance of resources to help with grief, stress management, mental health support and anyone who is struggling or needing a listening ear.
