Start With The Basics

The best place to start is at the beginning.  Virginia Retirement System (VRS) has provided a new VRS Member Guide.  The VRS Member Guide helps you learn about your plan, register your myVRS account, max out your voluntary contributions (Hybrid members) and help you with your finances.  The guide is meant as an easy-reference tool to help you learn more about your VRS membership and the options available to you.

VRS Retirement Plans

Plan 1:  Membership date is before July 1, 2010.  Vested as of January 1, 2013.  Learn more about Plan 1.

Plan 2:  Membership date is from July 1, 2010, to December 31, 2013.  OR  Membership date is before July 1, 2010, but not Vested as of January 1, 2013.  Learn more about Plan 2.

Hybrid Retirement Plan:  This plan applies to most members hired on or after January 1, 2014.  Learn more about the Hybrid Retirement Plan.
