Regional Alternative Program

The Regional Alternative Program (RAP) is a collaborative educational initiative of Henry County Public Schools designed to support students in achieving academic success while addressing behavioral and social-emotional needs. RAP proudly serves middle and high school students from Martinsville City, Henry County, and Patrick County, providing a structured, supportive environment where students can stay engaged in their education and continue making progress toward graduation.

Operating Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., RAP offers a flexible schedule that meets the needs of students who benefit from an alternative setting. The program emphasizes individualized support, strong relationships, and high expectations, ensuring that each student is given the opportunity to grow academically and personally.

RAP is staffed with dedicated educators and counselors who provide ongoing social-emotional support, helping students navigate challenges and build positive coping strategies. In addition, students participate in monthly community-building activities that foster connection, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.

Through a combination of academic instruction, behavioral support, and restorative practices, RAP helps students build the skills necessary for success both in school and beyond. Our team works closely with students, families, and base schools to create a positive pathway forward, fostering resilience, accountability, and confidence.

At RAP, we believe every student deserves a second chance—and the support to make the most of it.
