- Please make sure you have updated your student’s enrollment for the 20-21 school year. This is critical for your child’s safety at our school. This information is used to update bus routes and timing of bus arrivals each morning and afternoon. If you need assistance, contact the school secretary at 632-7216 to schedule an appointment.

During the Pandemic: Car riders will use the Bus Lane at the front of the building. Buses will use the Car Rider Line around the building. This is to provide for social distancing and efficient arrivals and dismissals. Due to the social distancing regulations, students must only ride their assigned bus. Students will not be allowed to ride a different bus to go home with a friend/family member.

New Bus Rules- No food or drink on the bus except bottled water.
Students should get prior approval from bus driver before bringing large items onto the bus.
Car Rider Line- Parents must provide written notification which includes a valid phone when transportation changes are made.

COVID- 19 TRANSPORTATION PLAN
These procedures will remain in place until HCPS returns to a normal 5 day a week schedule:
Bus Riders: (Buses will use the Car Rider Loop.)
Students will be required to wear a face mask while on the bus.
Families should sit together, where feasible
School buses to carry less that 50% of normal capacity
Students to sit one to a seat
Students to be required to adhere to seating arrangements
Temperature checks will be conducted before students exit the bus. Students with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed to stay at school.
Buses to be sanitized after each morning and afternoon route
COVID- 19 TRANSPORTATION PLAN
Car Riders: (Bus Lane/Front of School):
Adults must stay in their vehicles at all times.
Temperature checks of students will be conducted as cars drive up.
Students with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed to stay at school.
Students should open their own car doors and exit on the right side of the car closest to the school.
To keep our campus as safe as possible , we will be closed to visitors/volunteers for now. You will not be allowed to come into the school to pick up your child during dismissal times. Please know that dismissals will be slower than in the past to get our students out of the building safely and to maintain social distancing.

If possible bring all paperwork in prior to the first day of school.
Medications for students will be delivered to the nurse by the parent/guardian (not transported by student). Dates will be set based upon our return.
All medical information should be provided in the online student enrollment.
7th Grade students must have the TDAP vaccination before August 10th.
HCPS Virtual Learning
Although we are All virtual at this phase, upon return:
2 Options: (1)Hybrid- 2 days in school; 3 days virtual (2) All virtual
All virtual interactions will be through Canvas, our LMS.
Will focus on student mastery of skills, including the Virginia Standards of Learning.
Engaging activities- manipulatives, games, Smartboard/Promethean Board usage
5 Cs- Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, Citizenship
Standards of Learning Assessments:
Instructional Plan reference
Students are expected to complete assigned work by the due date.
Assignments will be found in Canvas, using the student’s school-issued iPad.
Students can visit hot spots to download necessary items.
Teachers will use virtual meeting tools such as Zoom or Canvas Live.
Teachers will communicate with students throughout the week.
Teachers will have “office hours” established and posted on their website and Canvas page. Teachers will communicate with parents during this time. Scheduled appointments will be the best way for students to receive individual feedback.
It is expected that students are courteous, respectful, and give their best effort during online class. The HCPS technology code of conduct will be followed.
Grades will be assigned to student work. There will not be a “pass/fail” option. Students will receive grades based on the A, B, C, D, F scale.
Students will be held accountable for daily attendance/ check ins with teachers.
More information will be forthcoming about attendance during the virtual/hybrid periods.

Please take time to read the Student Code of Conduct and the Lancer Matrix as discipline procedures change when students reach the secondary level.
Students will attend a discipline/expectations meeting during the first week of school.
Cell phone policy – Cell phones must be off and kept in bookbag or teacher assigned location.
Sign in / Sign out
Visitors and Volunteers must sign in at the front office and be given an identification badge.
Parents/Guardians or designees must show identification EVERYTIME to pick up students.
For safety reasons the office will not sign students out after 3:00 p.m.
The office will not change transportation after 12:00 p.m. (noon) for safety.

Officer Clark is here to support our students and staff on a daily basis.
We separate school discipline from criminal activity. If administration determines that an offense could be criminal it is then turned over to Officer Clark for investigation. School consequences still apply.

Don’t make excuses for poor choices- help your child learn from them.
