Degrees and Certifications:
I think it’s important that you know a little about me since I will be with your child for most of the day. This will be my 25th year of teaching. I taught kindergarten for 10 years, and this will be my 15th year in first grade. All 25 years have been at Mt. Olivet. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education from Averett College.
I am married, and we have 2 sons. Both of our children attend Henry County Public Schools. I attend church at Mercy Crossing and am active in many ministries there. My hobbies are running, reading, shopping and spending time with my family.
I believe that all children can and will learn regardless of any obstacles they may face. My goal is to move each student up at least one grade level regardless of where they are at academically when they come to me at the beginning of the year. This will require hard work and dedication on my part, your part and your child’s part.
Teaching is my passion, and I love the children! Watching children learn and grow is the most rewarding part of my job. I sincerely hope that this will become evident as your child progresses in first grade.
If there’s anything at all that you may need throughout this year, please do not hesitate to let me know. Email is a great way to get in touch with me (firstname.lastname@example.org). I believe that education is truly a partnership between community, teacher and home. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!
