High Quality Work Based Learning
The Henry County Public Schools High Quality Work Based Learning program is designed to prepare students for the next steps in their future. Students in the program will earn real work experience, credits toward their diploma, an additional item on their resume, and some may also gain valuable interview experience.
In order to apply, students must have completed or be scheduled to complete a CTE Course Sequence (Example: Culinary 1 and 2, Marketing and Fashion Marketing, Teacher for Tomorrow 1 and 2).
Work Based Learning Internship
This program is for high school seniors who have completed a CTE course sequence related to students intended career path. Students will participate in a short-term, supervised work experience related to their career interest, typically unpaid.
The internship takes place during two class blocks and students must be in good standing academically. Students must also have a referral from a guidance counselor, have parent/guardian permission, and provide their own transportation.
Cooperative Education
This program is for high school juniors or seniors and provides the opportunity for students to take part in a structured program where they will alternate periods of academic study with full-time paid work experience in a field related to their intended career path.
Students must complete a minimum of 280 hours from July-May and must be enrolled or planning to be enrolled in a CTE course in the current school year.

My favorite part of the internship is learning how a business like Lester Home Center works day to day. I was surprised how many professionals they interact with daily.

Being able to work alongside trainers in this atmosphere has strengthened my communication skills and confidence to work one on one with clients. This will prepare me for patient interaction in a clinical setting.
