Superintendent's Message
Dear Students and Families,
We are pleased to share with you the Program of Studies for the 2026-2027 school year. This guide outlines the academic pathways, elective options, and graduation requirements available to students in grades 9-12 — all designed to support success during high school and in life beyond graduation.
As we advance toward our RISE 2030 goals, Henry County Public Schools remains focused on Reimagining Instruction, Supporting Access and Opportunity, and Empowering Every Learner. This Program of Studies is not just a list of classes — it is a comprehensive tool to help each student make informed decisions about their future.
Aligned with Virginia’s 3E Framework — Enrollment, Enlistment, and Employment, this document supports students in planning for what comes next:
- Enrollment in college or technical training program
- Enlistment in military or national service
- Employment in a competitive, evolving workforce
As you explore your options, we encourage you to reflect on the following questions:
- What are your long-term goals after high school?
- Which courses and pathways will prepare you for success in those goals?
- Are there career and technical education (CTE) programs, advanced courses, dual enrollment, or work-based learning opportunities that match your interests?
- What credentials, certifications or experiences will set you apart after graduation?
HCPS is proud to offer a wide variety of learning experiences to help all students discover and develop their unique talents. From core academic subjects to career clusters, fine arts, technology, and leadership opportunities — this guide is designed to support your journey.
As always, your teachers, school counselors, and administrators are here to help you and your family navigate this process. We are committed to ensuring that every student has a personalized path toward graduation and postsecondary success.
We wish you the very best as you plan for a focused and fulfilling 2026-2027 school year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Amy Blake-Lewis
Superintendent
