VDOE 3E Readiness Model

The VDOE 3E Readiness Model measures how well students are prepared for life after high school by evaluating their progress in one of three pathways: Enrollment, Enlistment, or Employment. Schools earn credit when students meet benchmarks such as completing a college-ready curriculum, enlisting in the military, or earning industry credentials and securing career-ready experiences.

Every Virginia student will graduate high school having at least one set of measurable experiences as defined by the 3E Readiness Framework including: •

  • high-demand industry recognized credential for employment,
  • high-rigor military preparation as outlined in the outcome-based measures for enlistment, and/or
  • transferable post-secondary credits (either through dual enrollment or accelerated, rigorous college credit-bearing coursework) for enrollment
