Superintendent's Message
Dear Students and Families,
We are excited to share with you the Program of Studies for the 2026–2027 school year. This guide outlines the academic and elective offerings for students in grades 6-8 and provides a roadmap for how middle school learning builds a strong foundation for success in high school and beyond.
As we continue to advance our RISE 2030 goals, Henry County Public Schools remains committed to Reimagining Instruction, Supporting Access and Opportunity, and Empowering Every Learner. Middle school is a time of exploration — an opportunity to discover strengths, build confidence, and develop the habits of learning that lead to lifelong success. This Program of Studies is designed to help you make thoughtful choices that connect what you’re learning now to the goals you’ll pursue in high school and after graduation.
When planning your schedule, we encourage you to think about:
1. What subjects or activities make you most excited to learn?
2. What skills will help you succeed in high school courses and future opportunities?
3. Which electives can help you explore potential career interests?
4. How can your choices today prepare you for the advanced coursework, programs, and experiences available in high school?
The middle school years are a crucial bridge between elementary foundations and high school specialization. That’s why this Program of Studies includes a wide range of academic, career, technology, fine arts, and physical education options — giving every student the chance to develop both knowledge and curiosity while preparing for future pathways aligned with Virginia’s 3E Framework (Enrollment, Enlistment, and Employment).
As you explore your options, remember that your teachers, counselors, assistant principals, and principals are here to support you and your family. Together, we can help you create a schedule that not only meets academic requirements but also sets you on a path toward personal growth, career readiness, and future success.
We look forward to another exciting year of learning, discovery, and growth. Best wishes for a successful and inspiring 2026-2027 school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Amy Blake-Lewis
Superintendent
